In true 'Oracle of Andreivia' (aka Richard Crawley) style I am working on some new terrain bits for Andreivia and also for use in some solo pulp games I am planning using 20mm figures. So without further ado I present the 'City Walls'. Not quite finished yet but you get the idea. I plan to make another Guard Tower like the one pictured plus some corner sections or maybe corner towers, some broken wall sections and finally a Gatehouse. I plan to have around 6ft-8ft of city walls when they are finished.

ANDREIVIA - The Andreivian Star WIP

After an email early this morning from Ian S with a link to http://scalescenes.com/product/t030b-clyde-puffer/ I ordered one, downloaded the plans and instructions and started to build the 'Andreivian Star'. So far just some work on the hull.

PULP ALLEY - Sally 4th Goodies

I have been slowly (really slowly) planning to start playing Solo Pulp Alley after reading about the Pulp Alley Solo Deck. Today my goodies from Sally 4th have arrived. A Pulp Alley Solo Deck and the Sally 4th Fortune Card. Work starts soon on some terrain boards and some other bits and bobs. Stay tuned.

D DAY - Part 3

D DAY - Part Two

A little bit more progress, I have added plasticard to the rear of the models and a small rectangle over the turret hatch to simulate the Deep Wading Kit that the Centaur used on D Day. I need to add a little detail to the exhaust section at the rear to pick up the drybrushing but apart from that they are pretty much ready for painting.

D DAY - Part One

Over recent years myself and Andy C have both expressed an ambition to one day do a massive D-Day game in 6mm using Blitzkrieg Commander II Rules (or III if Pendraken ever pull their finger out!). So at Sundays Joy of Six show, when I could get near the Heroics and Ros stand, I picked up the first of what I imagine will be a very long ongoing project. 8 Centaur 95mm CS tanks. I plan to do this project in small units so I can go to town on the modelling and basing of the units.

First up on the workbench is the 5th Royal Marine Independent Armoured Support Battery (R, S, T and V Troops) complete with scratchbuilt Porpoise Ammunition Sledges. I plan to add some plasticard to the rear of each tank to represent the Deep Wading Set and a small piece over the hatch. So far I am quite pleased with how the Porpoise Ammunition Sledges have turned out and they fit nicely on the standard 40mm x 20mm MDF base.

I have read that there were instances of tanks towing two sledges ashore so I may model extra sledges to represent this or just use a larger base. Not sure yet.

CHAIN OF COMMAND - Winter Germans (Part One)

After the recent Korsun Pocket game at the Deeside Defenders Gauntlet Weekend I have really got interested in the Chain of Command rules. Andy Canham very kindly picked me up some German Mountain Troops from Britannia at a recent show which I couldn't get to due to work commitments. I had originally planned to use them for my Costa Verde setting but after the Korsun Pocket game I thought I would paint up what I have to represent a ragtag Gebirgsjager platoon while I wait for the other bits to arrive that I need to finish the platoon. So here is my first Rifle Squad, just need to finish the bases and give them a coat of varnish.

GAUNTLET 2016 - Korsun Pocket

I finally made it to Gauntlet this year after several years of trying and failing due to work commitments. Unfortunately work commitments meant I could only get there on the Saturday and not the Sunday but one day was better than none. I was meeting up with Richard C, Andy C, Will M and the chaps from the Deeside Defenders to play a Chain of Command game based on the German attempt to break out of the Korsun Pocket in 1944. The scenario and game preparation had all been done by Richard C and Will M had built some superb winter terrain including some fantastic fences made from old blinds. The troops were provided by Will M, Richard C and Andy C. I had hoped to do a platoon myself but a recent prolonged illness got in the way of that plan. I had never played Chain of Command before and was looking forward to the game as I had heard good things about the rules. A German platoon, Andy in charge, begins its long journey to attempt to reach the far end of the table and the German JOP's. The Germans had three platoons, Andy on the right flank, Will in the middle and Si on the left flank. The Germans had three activation's before the Russian's appeared to simulate the Germans slipping away from the front line before the Russians discover they have left.

The Germans were low on supplies and were tasked with searching all major terrain features in case they found something useful.

Meanwhile on the left flank Si's platoon have discovered a boat hidden in the woods near the village.

Meanwhile at the other end of the table a Russian platoon with Gary in command advances towards the Germans. The supply dump is the German JOP!

And on the other side of the table John's Russian platoon enters the fray. The supply dump is the German JOP!

Meanwhile Will allocates two riflemen to man the horse and cart. Whatever is he upto?

Will's troops keep advancing assisted by rolling 4 double sixes in a row! 

Si's troops reach the farm and after a search find some vodka but nothing of use

Will's cunning plan is revealed, the Germans plan to haul the boat to the river on the back of the horse and cart.

Russian ski troops occupy the farm behind the Germans and begin to trade shots with Will's platoon halting their advance briefly.

Meanwhile on the right flank the Russians have brought a T26 on to the table although after a brief firefight with Andy's Germans the T26 is hit and destroyed.

The Germans are making good progress towards their JOP's but their advance is hampered by continual Russian attacks

The cart continues its advance but is slowed when it comes under fire from the Russian sniper in the farm.

Time beat us but the Germans had made good progress towards their JOP's and Si's platoon had nearly made it to the other end of the table. A great game and one I would really like to play again, maybe over two days so we can play to a conclusion and Will can use his superb frozen river terrain. Maybe one for the Village Hall in Dungworth? Thanks to all the chaps for making it a great days gaming and also big thanks to the guys at the Deeside Defenders for organising a great event. 

I've got the WWII Winter bug now and have started working on some of my own forces. I really want to explore the rules further as we discussed there suitability for next years Andreivia game.
